Polymetallic (Zn, Pb, Cu) vein

Polymetallic (Zn, Pb, Cu) vein

Ore deposit type: Hydrothermal, polymetallic vein type

Provenance: Torgola Mine, Filone Torgola – Val Trompia (Lombardy, N Italy)

Description: Massive ore composed of dominant sphalerite (brown) and minor chalcopyrite (yellow, with metallic luster) and galena (gray, with metallic luster) in fluorite gangue (white to gray). Note the brecciated (given by angular sphalerite clasts) to crustiform banded structure (given by fluorite and sphalerite bands) of the sample. These features are typical of hydrothermal veins and are due to multiple deformation and precipitation events.
