Hematite, pyrite, bismuthinite ore

Hematite, pyrite, bismuthinite ore

Ore deposit type: Magmatic-hydrothermal, skarn/carbonate-replacement type

Provenance: Brosso Mine (Piedmont, Italy)

Description: Massive ore composed of hematite (black lamellar crystal with metallic luster), pyrite (yellow), and bismuthinite (dark-gray prismatic crystals with cleavage parallel to elongation) in ferroan magnesite (?) gangue (massive, brownish yellow, with rhombohedric cleavage). The presence of bismuthinite and Fe oxides indicates high formation temperatures.
